Mrs. Eva Paul was 100 years old on the 26th March 2005Chairman Tony Day of Chapel St Leonards Parish Council presented local lady Mrs Eva Alice Paul with a bouquet of flowers on behalf of the Parish Council. Mrs Paul was 100 years old on the 26th March 2005. She has lived in the village for over 70 years and is a familiar face to many.

Born in Kent in 1905, she was a teacher in her youth, spending some time in Switzerland. She celebrated her birthday with family and friends at Skegness Hospital. Her Great, Great, Nephew and Niece, Michael and Gemma Whittle travelled all the way from Derbyshire to join in the festivities.

During her life she has seen many changes. She was born the year the Wright Brothers made their first flight and was 10 years old when The Titanic sank. She survived two world wars and saw Neil Armstrong land on the moon.

Chairman Tony Day congratulated Mrs Paul on her achievement and was proud to have met such a remarkable lady.
